The integration of community practices to teaching and academic services had been carried out in the 3rd year subject, SWE-388 digital content storage and retrieval. During the term, the knowledge from the practical development of Solr-based indexing systems was utilized in student projects. The configurations of an indexing system to efficiently support a huge set of data were demonstrated in the class. The students were able to develop their systems based on this knowledge. Hence, three search systems with efficient indexing systems were developed including the search systems for Thai temples, Thai food, and Thai plant. Additionally, this also contributed to the academic integration with art and culture. The knowledge was shared to an international workshop in the 14th International Joint Conference on Computer Science and Software Engineering (JCSSE2017). The practical knowledge from developing an efficient search system for Walai Autolib, UCTAL, and TCDC under the IIRC research center was contributed in the workshop.
