Digital Information Management Program Developing a Digital Collection Management system of the Cooperative Education Report and Projects to comply with the policy of a Green University

Dr. Yuttana Jaroenruen, a lecturer of Digital Information Management program, developed a digital collection management system of the cooperative education report and research projects of the 3rd and 4th year students, which complies with the Walailak University’s policy of being a Green University by reducing the use of paper.

Walailak University has a policy of being a Green University in the 20-year strategic plan (2018-2037) to enhance the image of a green university of happiness and comply with UI GreenMetric World University Ranking criteria. To achieve a successful Walailak University policy, a digital collection management system of cooperative education reports and projects is developed for reducing the use of paper in the report section. Also, the students are required to submit their project reports in electronic files.

The prototype of a Digital Collection Management system of the Cooperative Education Report and Projects is developed by using Omeka, the open-source software in the group of Web Content Management, Collections Management, and Archival Digital Collections Systems.  The software supports various types of presentations on websites. Moreover, it can apply to many kinds of work, such as the information in libraries, museum artifacts, academic works, and various exhibitions. Besides, the Omeka software is easy to use, providing web 2.0 functionalities, as well as supporting information in both bibliographies, documents attachment files in various formats, such as doc, .docx, .pdf, .zip including digital image files, multimedia, both audio and video. Users can search the information in the system by using keywords, Boolean, and Exact Match.
