Advance MARC Authority & Advance Dublin Core metadata training for undergraduate students for the first time in Thailand.

As with other information management program in Thailand, Digital Content & Media (DCM) program frequently arrange training to enhance learners’ knowledge and skills. In particular, the understanding of information organizing and cataloging process because DCM is considered a basic knowledge that every informaticist must-have.

 

However, in the context of changing information society, the format and structure of information have changed. Besides, users’ needs have changed, especially the need for information that can be transformed into machine-readable That can automatically exchange data between the systems. This change made the DCM curriculum aware of the need to educate learners. So that they will have the knowledge and skills to do real work in the future.

Therefore, DCM offers a training course on Advance MARC Authority & Advance Dublin Core metadata, an advanced system for catalogers and information professionals. This is the first training course for undergraduate students in Thailand.

The training was held on September 26, 2020, with speakers from the Informatics Innovation Center of Excellent (IICE), Mr. Wittaya Tewarungsi, and Ms. Pornpimol Watcharakul, system analyst and national level metadata expert.
