MTA Walailak invited “Phairoj Pichetmethakun” to give a lecture on the experience of working in art abroad.

25th October 2020, Multimedia Technology Animation and Game (MTA) invited independent artist “Pok” or Phairot Phichetmethakun who inspired artworks from society and people around him.

He went to study for a master’s degree in San Francisco, USA. After studying for a year, he decided to quit to work on a project about the homeless, for the reason that “Art doesn’t exist only in museums.”

He started his first homeless project in San Francisco and six months later he moved to New York. Pok’s life in the US wasn’t as beautiful as his thought. The first show in New York made him stop painting for a while. He dropped out of his postgraduate study and had to work in a restaurant with art tutoring to support his budget.

Like other artists, he has spent many years pursuing his genre of art. The first inspiration came with one day in San Francisco. Pok found homeless people attacked. He decided to walk by for fear of harming. That night, he couldn’t sleep and pondered how the homeless would be.

Then he determined with himself to help these homeless people in his way. Thus, the “Hope Project” started, a project to draw a picture to homeless people.

He has been painting for homeless around San Francisco and New York carrying equipment at spots such as the subway, Times Square, and Brooklyn. When the painting was finished, he gave it to the homeless person, regardless of what he had to do next.
