The School of Informatics, Walailak University, hosted the 4th international seminar “INFOCON 2025” under the theme “AI in Higher Education” via Zoom. The event featured experts from Thailand, Malaysia, and the UK who shared insights on integrating AI into higher education. With over 700 registered participants from around the world, the seminar fostered international academic collaboration and highlighted the growing role of AI in global education.
On May 12, 2025, the School of Informatics, Walailak University organized the New Student Orientation for the academic year 2025, to warmly welcome the new students into the #DekLikeSara family in a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. The event was honored by the presence of Asst. Prof. Dr. Siriwatjana Kaewphanuak, Acting Dean of the School of Informatics, along with faculty members, academic staff, supporting personnel, and the student union team, who all came together to extend a heartfelt and enthusiastic welcome. The event was filled with joy, warmth, and smiles—true to the unique spirit of Informatics students.
On April 24, 2025, the School of Informatics, Walailak University, organized a seminar to follow up on and report the progress of its operations in accordance with the university’s strategic plan (mid-year review) for the fiscal year 2025. The event took place at the 80-Seat Conference Room, 1st Floor, Academic Building 3.
On April 9, 2025, the School of Informatics, Walailak University, participated in the “Walailak Songkran: Preserving Traditions 2025” event, held at the central hall of the Architecture and Design Practice Building, Walailak University. The event was organized by the Center for Cultural Promotion and Sports in collaboration with the Center for Academic Services and Surrounding Communities, under the theme “Preserving Traditions, Strengthening Community Bonds.” It aimed to celebrate the Thai New Year (Songkran) while preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Thailand.
On March 27, 2025, the Digital Technology in Medicine Program, Walailak University, was honored by the Science and Technology Park, Walailak University, to present its research and innovation at Walailak Investor Day 2025. The event served as a platform for faculty members, researchers, and entrepreneurs to showcase high-potential innovations ready for investment and commercial development. On this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Chalee Kaewrat, a faculty member of the Digital Technology in Medicine Program, was invited to present his project titled: ✨"Design and Development of a Physical Strength Assessment System for the Elderly Using Augmented Reality (AR)" This innovation focuses on promoting health among the elderly by utilizing Augmented Reality (AR) technology to assess physical performance—such as strength, balance, and agility—conveniently from home. The system also aims to motivate seniors to engage in regular exercise through interactive and user-friendly tools. This participation not only highlights the technological advancement of the program but also demonstrates the strong potential of research that can be developed into real-world applications at a national level.
On March 26-27, 2025, the 4th “Dek Like Sara Camp” was held in full swing, starting on the first day with fun ice-breaking activities that allowed the children to get to know each other better, as if they had been friends for many years. This was followed by team-building activities that provided an enjoyable learning experience through games and challenging tasks that required creativity and teamwork.
On March 28, 2025, faculty members and staff from the School of Informatics participated in an almsgiving ceremony with dry food offerings for blessings and to celebrate the 33rd anniversary of the founding of Walailak University.
On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, the School of Informatics, Walailak University, warmly welcomed teachers and high school students (grades 10-12) from Huai Nang Ratbamrung School, Trang Province, who visited the university for an educational field trip and career guidance session at Room 1310, Lecture Building 1, from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. During the session, students had the opportunity to receive guidance on pursuing higher education in the field of Information Technology from Asst. Prof. Dr. Bukhoree Sahoh, along with a team of faculty members, researchers, and senior students. They provided in-depth insights into academic programs, career opportunities, and essential digital skills for the future. Additionally, students received university admission tips and advice on planning their academic paths, helping them make informed decisions about their future education.
On March 5, the Digital Technology in Medicine Program at Walailak University organized a creative and educational activity titled “Augmented Reality (AR) Applications in Medical Fields” for students from Southern Thailand Triam Udom Suksa School, held in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The event was honored by Asst. Prof. Dr. Chalee Kaewrat, a faculty member of the program, who served as the speaker. He delivered an engaging lecture and demonstrated real-life applications of AR technology to enhance learning and support medical practices in the digital era. 📱 Participants gained hands-on experience in: Understanding the concepts and working principles of AR technology Applying AR to anatomical simulations Designing AR media to simplify the understanding of complex medical data This activity not only provided students with knowledge and enjoyment, but also broadened their perspective on modern medical technologies. It served as an inspiration for further studies and innovation in the healthcare technology field in the future.
