On May 9, 2025, Assistant Professor Dr. Siriwatchana Kaeophanuek, Acting Dean of the School of Informatics at Walailak University, along with the school’s executive team and faculty members from all programs, visited Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) to further and expand international academic collaboration.
During this visit, the delegation received a warm welcome from Associate Professor Dr. Mohammad Rezal Hamzah, Dean of the Faculty of Business & Communication, and his administrative team. The faculty offers undergraduate programs in New Media Communication, integrating skills in communication, new media, information technology, and management. Additionally, they have recently introduced a program in Interactive Multimedia. At the postgraduate level, they offer a program in Communication and Information Technology, which currently attracts a significant number of international students.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on January 20, 2025, between Walailak University, represented by President Professor Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, and UniMAP, represented by Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Zaliman Sauli, this visit marks a significant step in solidifying tangible collaborations. Discussions during the visit included various collaborative activities such as faculty exchanges, joint organization of international seminars, research development, joint research funding applications, short-term programs with transferable credits to facilitate student learning exchanges, two-week short courses for interested students, and co-supervision of postgraduate theses.
This collaboration represents a pivotal achievement in establishing international partnerships, enhancing the visibility of the School of Informatics among neighboring Malaysian universities, and opening avenues for joint academic advancements on an international scale.
