On May 7, 2025, Asst. Prof. Dr. Siriwatchana Kaeophanuek, Acting Dean of the School of Informatics, Walailak University, together with the school’s executives and faculty members from all academic programs, paid an official visit to Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) to foster international academic collaboration.
During the visit, the School of Informatics held a meeting with Prof. Dr. Wan Ahmad Jaafar Wan Yahaya, Director of the Centre for Instructional Technology and Multimedia (PTPM), along with faculty members and researchers in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Established in 1974, PTPM is one of the oldest centres of excellence at Universiti Sains Malaysia. The Centre offers a PhD program in all fields related to Instructional Technology and Multimedia, as well as two Master’s programs: the Master of Instructional Multimedia and the Master of Art.
Both institutions signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) at the faculty level to strengthen tangible joint initiatives. ✍️ The collaboration includes faculty exchange programs, co-advisorship for graduate theses, co-hosting academic conferences, and the honor of having a Keynote Speaker from USM at the upcoming International Conference organized by the School on June 4, 2025.
Further discussions focused on joint research opportunities in emerging areas such as technology, artificial intelligence, interactive multimedia, educational media, and instructional technologies. Additionally, CITM expressed its willingness to host Walailak University students for international cooperative education (co-op) placements and to support the development of short-course international programs to enhance global competencies among students.
This visit represents a pivotal move in advancing international cooperation in education and research, ultimately contributing to the quality enhancement of academic programs and expanding global opportunities for both students and faculty at the School of Informatics, Walailak University.
