On June 4, 2025, the School of Informatics, Walailak University, successfully organized the 4th International Seminar “INFOCON 2025” under the theme “AI in Higher Education: Bridging Innovation in Academia.” The event was held online via Zoom Meeting, aiming to create an international platform for knowledge exchange on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education and to foster global academic collaboration.
This seminar brought together experts and scholars from Thailand, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom to share in-depth insights and experiences on applying AI to enhance education. Topics covered included improving learning outcomes through AI, comparing AI integration approaches across countries, adapting teaching and learning methods in response to technological and labor market changes, and strengthening international academic networks.
INFOCON 2025 drew strong interest from the global academic community, with over 700 participants registered from various countries, including university faculty, researchers, students, and members of the public—highlighting growing awareness of AI’s impact on education.
Distinguished international keynote speakers included:
- Dr. Mageswaran Sanmugam, Universiti Sains Malaysia, presenting “Transforming Education: The Synergy of AI and Gamification in Shaping Future Learning”
- Prof. Mark Perry, Brunel University of London, UK, presenting “AI in Higher Education in England/Europe”
- Dr. Habee Bullah Affandy, Universiti Malaysia Perlis, presenting “The ART Model: Ethical AI in Creative Practice”
All three experts provided valuable perspectives drawn from research, curriculum development, and educational policy-making in the digital age, while also posing critical questions about the future of global education systems.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Siriwatchana Kaeophanuek, Acting Dean of the School of Informatics, stated,
