On February 13, 2026, Asst. Prof. Dr. Siriwatchana Kaeophanuek, Dean of the School of Informatics at Walailak University, led the executive team, faculty, researchers, staff, and students in welcoming the Senate Committee on Education, Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation. The delegation was led by Mr. Amornsak Kitthananan, Vice Chairman of the Committee, during their visit to observe outstanding research at the Informatics Studio.
The School of Informatics showcased research and innovations reflecting potential in Digital Technology for Society and Well-being, including:

Smart Care Platform: A system for recommending and monitoring physical therapy for stroke patients under the Digital Technology for Health Rehabilitation project, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charlee Kaewrat, Head of the School’s Research Unit.

Medical Virtual Practice Training: Research in Medical VR and Metaverse technology, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chaowanan Khundam, Associate Dean.
Furthermore, the committee observed projects contributing to Spatial and Cultural Development:

Nakhon Si Thammarat Smart City: Lessons learned from successfully driving smart city initiatives into practice, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Pornpon Thamrongrat, Associate Dean.

Nora 12 Positions Learning Program: Developed using Motion Capture Technology by Mr. Pirasut Ketlertprasert and the research team from the Interactive Multimedia, Animation, and Games program.
A major highlight was the student project “LIGHTBRAIN”, a Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) for communication and control for individuals with severe physical disabilities. Developed by 3rd-year students in the Digital Technology in Medicine program, it won the Gold Medal at the Thailand New Gen Inventors Award 2026 (I-New Gen Award 2026).
The exhibition also featured academic works by Asst. Prof. Dr. Peeravit Koad, an expert in synthesizing new knowledge through empirical data across various fields, including Data Science, Astronomy, and Geography, notably his acclaimed book, “Suvarnabhumi Recognita.”
This visit highlights the School of Informatics’ capability in integrating digital technology with health, society, and culture to create practical innovations that serve both local and national communities, aligned with Walailak University’s mission as a research university creating a sustainable positive impact.
