The Day 1 activities were designed to build integrated skills, combining academic rigor with local cultural immersion. Highlights included:

In-depth Systems & Critical Thinking
The morning kicked off with “System Exposure,” where students explored the Walai AutoLib system—a sustainable library software innovation developed by Walailak University. This was followed by a “Kahoot Challenge” in a Critical Thinking session, allowing students to dissect and analyze systemic issues together.

A Taste of Authentic Thai Culture
Beyond the classroom, students enjoyed a “Thai Food Experience” by tasting the world-famous “Thai Tea” (Cha-Yen). The students were particularly excited by the unique experience of drinking from a plastic bag secured with a rubber band. Learning the “art of unbinding the rubber band” themselves brought smiles and offered a memorable introduction to the Thai way of life.

Hands-on UX Observation & Innovation Sprint
The afternoon focused on real-world applications through UX Observation. Students toured the University Library and Gaming Zone to analyze User Engagement and User Experience (UX). This led into the “Innovation Sprint,” a brainstorming session aimed at designing smart library innovations for the AI era.

Pitching Ideas for Sustainability
The day concluded with a “Pitching & Wrap-up” session, where students presented their brainstormed concepts and summarized their key takeaways. These ideas are expected to be further developed into sustainable innovations in the future.

This first day marks a strong start to an intensive exchange program, strengthening ties between the two institutions and reinforcing Walailak University’s role as an international hub for informatics education.
