The Digital Content and Media Program, School of Informatics, Walailak University, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Naparat Chookerd, in collaboration with the Academic Services Center, has initiated a project titled âDesign and Development of Media to Promote Learning on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).â The main objective is to create digital media that communicates SDG-related content in an accessible and engaging way, enhancing public knowledge, understanding, and participation in driving sustainable development at both local and global levels ð.
The project focuses on producing media that presents key aspects of five SDG goals:
-
Goal 1: No Poverty ðļ
-
Goal 2: Zero Hunger ð
-
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being âĪïļ
-
Goal 4: Quality Education ð
-
Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals ðĪ
These media tools will be used as learning materials for the target audience, along with post-learning assessments to evaluate knowledge acquisition. This initiative is directly aligned with SDG Goal 4: Quality Education, particularly sub-goals 4.3 (ensuring affordable and quality technical, vocational, and tertiary education for all) and 4.5 (eliminating gender disparities and ensuring equal access to education for vulnerable groups).
ð On June 9, 2025, Asst. Prof. Dr. Naparat Chookerd and the project team conducted a field visit to Walailak Pattana Demonstration Community in Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The purpose was to collect in-depth data on local occupational practices, focusing on the integrated pig farming community enterprise, which serves as a model for sustainable livelihood and environmental practices.
ð§ Field activities included the installation and maintenance of a biogas system that converts pig waste into renewable energy. This system not only reduces unpleasant odors in the community but also generates cooking gas for household use, helping reduce electricity costs. Additionally, a hands-on training session was conducted on black soldier fly larvae farming ð as an alternative protein source for pig feedâan innovative approach that supports cost reduction and environmental sustainability in livestock farming.
ðļ All photo and video documentation were captured by third-year students of the Digital Content and Media Program: Oramon Somchit, Kritsakorn Suwannano, and Peerapat Promsorn. The collected materials will be used in developing media content across various SDG dimensions.
ð This project exemplifies the integration of digital knowledge, communication design, and sustainable development, bridging academia and community collaboration to achieve global development goals in a meaningful and localized manner.
