The project aims to promote lifelong learning and enhance the cultural storytelling skills of the Thasala community to support tourism and preserve the local way of life.

The Communication Arts Program, led by Lecturer Tanaporn Charoenthansakul, initiated a project to enhance lifelong learning and develop cultural storytelling skills within the Thasala community. The goal is to cultivate local storytelling capabilities in Thasala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, with a focus on promoting tourism through local culture and community ways of life. The project aims to empower local storytellers and generate positive impacts for the broader community. This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Goal 4: Quality Education, specifically Sub-indicator 4.3.1: Public Resources (Lifelong Learning), and also supports the UI Green Metric World University Rankings, under the indicator ED.5: Number of activities organized by student organizations related to sustainability per year.

The project commenced with field visits to establish understanding and assess the needs related to training content and media in collaboration with the Thasala District Lifelong Learning Center. This was followed by participatory sessions with the community to define communication goals and storytelling development themes prior to the training workshop.

On June 30, 2025, a workshop titled “The Art of Cross-Media Storytelling” was held at Computer Lab 2, Digital Technology Center, Walailak University. The workshop aimed to develop storytelling skills and promote lifelong learning among participants from the Thasala community. Upon completion, participants were awarded certificates. The project will continue in the next phase with extended field-based training within the local communities of Thasala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat.
